Regarding fancams & fan-taken pictures

heodang:

Thought I’d put this up because I feel like people are either arrogant or aren’t very informed when it comes to fancams and/or fan-taken pictures.

For those who aren’t familiar with rules by Korean fansites, here’s some basics:

  • 불펌하지마세요/무단배포금지 = Do not take out without crediting.
  • 출처밝히고가세요 (or anything with 출처) = CREDIT. Credit the fansite. List it somewhere in your post. Put their fansite as a source. Do something - CREDIT THEM.
  • 2차가공금지 = Do not edit.
  • Anything with 금지 = no.
  • 이동은 자유 = Take out freely to anywhere.
  • 재업로딩 금지 = Reuploading is prohibited.
  • 여기에서만 보세요 (or anything similar to this) = Just look at it here.

Even if you guys find the picture from Tumblr, usually almost all Korean fansites have a watermark and it doesn’t hurt to possible Naver/Google (if possible) the name of the fansite. Some even list the website URL under their logo.

I’ve seen a lot of my favorite fansites (like TUNE THE RAINBOW for Infinite) close down and it really does suck when they do, especially if they’re the ones providing some of the best fancams or pictures. If they don’t want you to take it out, just enjoy it on wherever they post. You don’t have to make edits. And seriously, some people have the nerve to complain about fansites being strict and starting to forbid people on Tumblr to post their stuff when they’re doing the work taking pictures & videos for all fans. You should be grateful in my opinion.

I don’t want a bad rift between Korean fans & International fans. Just respect their rules and it really does not hurt you to add a hyperlink that directs them back to the fansite. Do not only yourself a favor, but for the rest of the people in your fandom by not ruining the fun for everyone. Some people really appreciate the pictures and fancams taken by Korean fans. If you ever get confused, ask the fansite if you’re allowed to take them out, or ask help on the rules from the master of the fansite by clearing it with a friend who’s fluent in Korean. Everyone loves nice gifs/edits, but the person who’s actually behind that, the person who even took those pictures/videos deserve the credit.
